After the costly victory in North Africa, the Allies under the command of General Montgomery of the General Alexanderof the 1st Army Division, the invasion of Sicily was authenticated. Fearing loss of morale from the Italians, Germany dispatched 300,000 troops of the remaining Afrika Corps to reinforce the coastal defenses. On the outbreak of the invasion, Allied commanders ordered the newly formed Parachute Infantry Divisions to earn combat experience. On July 9th, 1943 the allied invasion begun. Axis troops rushed to block the attack of Pattons 1st Armored Corps while the Italians fought a devastating battle inland against the Airborne Divisions.
The Axis resupplied their forces on July 21st and blocked the Allied advance at the Sicilian capital of Messina. The British fought desperately to keep their ground in hopes the American forces can outflank the Italians and attack the Germans from the West. However, elements of the Deutsches Afrika Korps remained in Palermo expecting a flanking maneuver thus stalling Pattons advance.
During the next brutal months of fighting, the Allied British and American forces where finally able to break through Messina's defenses and produce a full Axis retreat from Sicily.

Campazzo:
Synops:
Their are four avanues of approach when attacking or defending in Campazzo. Two are doorways while the other are streets. On each side of them are high defensive posiions in which units must hold while defending or otherwise the attackers will gain the higher ground when attacking deeper into your territory.
Map Rules: Midlines
A large connection of two story buildings cut the map in half. Finer details below.

Under the middle two story house is a basement. While defending, Axis may move down the stairs and look through the basements hallway but may not enter the hallway. The Allies while defending may be at the base of the stairs.

Both teams can progress to the fenceline. In the buidling at the top, the entrance and 1st room are only allowed to defending Axis. The allies take the other rooms.

Both teams can progress to the blown out hole in the norhtern most buidling. They may also defend up to the sublevel archway.

Axis may defend up to the sanbags and corner of building (but not inside the buidling) at the southern most part of Compazzo. The Allies can control the hourse, however they must set up behind the sandbags behind as to not overwhelm attacking forces in the Southern Region.
