The East vs West DODS Realism Ladder contains a unique way in which enrolled teams interact with each other to gain control of Europe in the process. As units enroll at anytime during the ladder, they will be placed on either the Allied side or the Axis side. You will begin with a short brief of the ladder and its procedures by a UWFL admin. Afterward you may begin campaigning for your side.
The "Battle Map" has many features that allow participating players a chance to see how the battle of Europe is being played out. This section will describe how you will go about conducting realisms for the ladder and for your side. If you are a unit leader or spokesman, it is highly important that you understand the steps involved with coordinating realisms in this ladder so that they are recorded properly and league officials can update your requests at a timely manner.
* United Warfare Officials will update the Battle Map every Saturday, Monday and Thursday. Please do not ask UWS members to update it because it does take some time to do it.

The Battle Map offers a unique view of the progress in which the ladder is being played out. The UWS will try their best to update it each night to keep it current, however on Saturdays, Mondays and Thursdays, the battle map will be updated regardless. So we plead that units do not get angry if the map is not changed as fast as we all want. Just know it will be changed very soon.
The way the UWS changes the battle map is by looking in the forums from posts from your unit. We mainly look into the "Deployment" and "XRay and Match Results" topics. Your posts in these topics will be the sole purpose in how the league officials learn of your matches and results. Please DO NOT send us private messages over steam or other venues. YOU MUST USE THESE TOPICS DESIGNATED.
- What Territories Can I Invade?
The EvW Ladder tries to follow the way Europe is controlled as it happened in WWII. Some alterations have been made for league purposes and for balancing, however it is mostly accurate.
There are THREE STAGES/PHASES of the ladder. The League begins in its first phase called "War of Magnitude." This means that only maps designated in the "War of Magnitude" phase located in the "Map Reports" section can be played on. You'll also notice that each side already controls four territories at the beginning of "War of Magnitude". These will come back to play in the final phase. Just know for right now, they are off limits to play on.
To move out of Stage 1 and into Stage 2, one side must control over 70% of "War of Magnitude" territories. As soon as the League Officials see this they will make a steam announcement that the second installment of the ladder has begun called "OutBreak." Once "OutBreak" is started, territories that you fought over in "War of Magnitude" become locked in place. Now teams will move onto the "OutBreak" territories located in the "Map Reports" section. Like stage 1, one side must control 70% of the territories in "OutBreak" to force a new stage.
This is where it gets tricky. If lets say the Axis won "War of Magnitude" but lost "OutBreak", the League officials will again make a steam message, but instead of moving to stage 3, the ladder will revert back to stage 1 (War of Magnitude). This is because stage 3 can only open up if one side wins both "War of Magnitude" and "OutBreak".
If a side finally wins both War Of Magnitude and OutBreak, the 3rd and final stage "At All Costs" opens up. However with a twist. Because one side controls nearly all of Europe, this forces the current losing side on the defensive. The territories that where originally given to them at the start of the ladder become playable. We refer to those as that sides "Strongholds". They will not be allowed to attack the other sides "strongholds" during the duration of "At All Costs". The side currently winning heading into Stage 3 is allowed to attack the other sides strongholds.
The defenders heading into "At All Costs" also cannot switch and go into another of their "Stronghold" territories. They must remain in the one they decide to defend. The Attacking side may attack different territories though.
To win "At All Costs" and the ladder, the winning side must be able to be the first to win 3 matches in each of the stronghold territories. To successfully defend "At All Costs" and revert the league back to stage 2, defenders must successfully win 3 matches in ONE of their four territories before the attacking side wins 3 and takes over that territory.
- What Territories Look Like And What They Mean
When you first view the Battle Map. You'll notice as you look around that Europe in a way starts looking like a checkerd board. Greens, Reds, Axis/Allies icons and Defaults are scattered everywhere. Do not be alarmed, our battle map is very easy to read. Here is an explanation of the territories and why they look the way they do:
 |
This is the default look of a territory. This means that no units have moved into this territory and that no one has control of it. |
| |
|
  |
These are controlled territories. This means a battle has been fought here and that the winning side now controls it. They get the perk that comes with that territory and the Battle Maps territory control percentage. |
| |
|
  |
These are "half" controlled territories. These mean a unit is currently occupying this territory and that they are controlling the perk the territory offers. They do not however get the Battle Maps territory control percentage associated with the territory. If you moved here but the territory was already fully controlled by the other side, you will take away their perk for the territory but not its Battle Map Percentage. |
| |
|
  |
These are the home bases of each side. They cannot be attacked until the last stage of the ladder called "At All Costs". Each side has not only Germany and England, but also:
Allies |
Axis |
England |
Germany |
Scotland |
Poland |
Ireland |
Denmark |
Sweden |
Norway |

- Pop Up Information

Above is an outline of the popup you see as you scroll over the large Battle Map. As you scroll over a few, you will notice that they have a different background color. These colors represent the "Phase" these maps can be played in as explained above in the subject called "What Territories Can I Invade?"

- Territory: This explains what the territory name is for the Battle Map. I.E. France, England, Germany, etc.
- DODS Map: This represents the map for this territory.
- Midline/Map Rules: This link sends you to this territories map rules page.
- Control Percintage: This number represents how much value this territory grants owners towards winning the current phase.
- Territory Percinatge: This represents the same as "Control Percintage".
- Perk: This represents the perk if any the owning side receives for possesing this territory.
- Minimum Size: This is the lowest number of players each unit must have to play on this map. They can negotiate in forums for a larger fight, but not smaller.
- How To Move Your Unit Into A Territory
To deploy your unit to a territory whether to take "half control" of it to reap the perk reward for your side or to invade a territory currently occupied, you will do so by posting in the "DEPLOYING" section on our forums. This lets league officials know you moved your unit to a territory. You may only make one move a week. (Sun-Sat)
(Notes- Some units like to keep the traditional realism way of only fighting friendly units. If this is you, there is nothing stopping you from coordinating with a friendly unit on the other side and moving your units to that territory at the same time)
- How To Engage And Record A EvW Realism
In order to have a realism for the EvW ladder league, two opposing forces must be present in the same territory. As soon as two forces are in the same territory, they must decide on when they plan to fight for it and post/edit their original posts it in the "DEPLOYMENT SECTION" of the forums.
Once they have their battle, they must each visit the "XRay Info and Battle Results" Topic and post their XRay info of each player they used in the battle, a screenshot of who was playing, and who won the match. Other options are there if you can remember to add, though they are not mandatory. Those are for the league staff to keep a round about record of all the casualties of war. If you can add information to that, it would help a lot.
